Are all medical grade barriers/bandages that provide protection from outside contaminants that pose a risk to the proper healing of your tattoo. They are permeable enough to allow Oxygen and water vapour to pass through it.
Your artists will always recommend the amount of time to keep the bandage(s) on but as a rule, its best to keep the bandage(s) on for 2-5 days.
During the next 48 hours there will be a collection of bodily fluid and ink starting to collect underneath the bandage(s). This is normal. A lot of the time the fluid will try to escape through small crevices and leak. You can wash this with warm water and UNSCENTED soap.
If an excessive amount of fluid builds under the bandage(s), you can contact your artist or the shop for further instructions. This is normal for some people and is nothing to be concerned about.
When it’s time to remove the bandage(s), do so in a gradual continuous motion under warm water. You will feel discomfort taking the bandage(s) off but it will quickly go away.
Try to remove the bandage in the morning.
DO NOT RIP the bandage off.
