Drink plenty of water
It’s important to stay hydrated during the process and you should drink plenty of water before your tattoo appointment. Being well hydrated will help to keep your stamina during your tattoo.
Watch out for the sun
If you get the area you plan on getting tattooed sunburnt, you will not be able to get tattooed. Besides the fact that the pain will be exceptionally worse, your skin will not be able to properly receive a tattoo as it is already trying to heal from the burn.
No alcohol
Do not drink any alcohol 2 days prior to your tattoo appointment. It will thin your blood and compromise how well your skin will be able to take the ink. We promise it is not worth the risk, and our artists appreciate each client helping to make your tattoo process as smooth as possible.
Try to sleep well the night before
We hate to be party poopers, but please do not go out and have a late night before your tattoo appointment. Try your best to get a good solid sleep the night before, as being well rested will make you less prone to twitching during your tattoo, and you will not feel as exhausted afterwards.
Eat well
Make sure you eat a good hearty meal before your tattoo appointment. Your body is going to need the energy as you are going to be tensed up, and your adrenaline will need the fuel to burn. We also recommend our clients to bring snacks for longer sessions. Our shop has some snacks you are welcome to have, but it is always good to be extra prepared!
Wear the right clothing
We advise all clients to wear clothing they wouldn’t mind getting ruined before going. Of course our artists try their best to prevent this, but it still can happen. Ideally, please wear comfortable clothing that will allow your artist to easily access the area you will be getting tattooed.
Bring something to entertain yourself
Our artists are very personable and are happy to talk with you during your tattoo session. But we understand some clients prefer to take their mind off the tattoo in other ways, and sometimes our artists like to just focus in on what we are tattooing (especially if they are tattooing intricate pieces). So you are more than welcome to bring your phone, music, or a good book to your tattoo appointment, as long as it does not interfere with the tattoo process.
